The WASP Research Arena for Media and Language (WARA M&L) is part of WASP. WARA M&L has built a multidisciplinary network that bridges scientific fields and industrial sectors in Media AI and continues to foster strong partnerships through collaborative projects. The WARA M&L network is connected through the shared mission to develop, test, and demonstrate research with high industrial and societal relevance in the field of AI for media and language.

The academic and industrial partners of WARA Media & Language have developed a digital platform for the development and evaluation of generative AI technologies. Media AI Hub enables users to share resources—such as challenges, models and datasets—with academic partners, fostering collaborative research and allowing industry to benefit from the expertise within the WASP community.

Our Community
The WARA Media & Language community brings together researchers, PhD students and industry partners. Through events and collaborative projects, we foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, support real-world research applications and build lasting academic and industry partnerships. We create spaces, both physical and digital where members can exchange ideas, test new approaches and learn from each other.
Opportunities for PhD Students
We offer a range of opportunities for PhD students to deepen their expertise and expand their professional networks. A highlight is the annual WASP Summer School held at the Visualization Center in Norrköping. The week-long program features expert lectures on topics such as generative language models, invertible neural networks and speech synthesis. Students work together to design prototype avatars and present their insights in the immersive 3D dome theatre. The Summer School provides both advanced academic input and meaningful connections with peers, researchers and industry professionals.
In addition, we host various workshops and events throughout the year in collaboration with our partners.
